Deer Creek School was fortunate to have a special assembly today.  Jack Cohen, a survivor of the Holocaust came to speak to students in grades 4-12 about the hardships he experienced during his childhood years.  Mr. Cohen was born in Greece in 1932.  Being Jewish, he and his family were forced into hiding during World War II.  Despite his troubles as a child, he returned to school and graduated, obtaining a doctorate in chemistry.  He owned a printing company until his retirement.  Mr. Cohen lives in Memphis with his wife Anna and travels with his daughter, Sarah Beth Cohen-Wilcox to speak with students across the Mid-South.
