The Deer Creek Student Council will sponsor a community service project for Thanksgiving.  It will involve kindergarten through the twelfth grade.  We would greatly appreciate your participation.  The classes will be collecting canned or dry foods for donation to the Leland Food Pantry.  The following items are of the greatest need:  Tang, grits, pork and beans, canned spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, cried beans, rice, canned milk, dry milk, sugar, cake mix, corn meal, flour, cooking oil, syrup, peanut butter, jelly, jello, crackers, spaghetti sauce, peas, mixed vegetables, canned beans, canned corn, canned sweet potatoes, boxed creamed potatoes, canned soup, and canned fruit.  PLEASE DO NOT SEND RAMEN NOODLES.

For every 5 items that are donated, the class will receive a feather to be placed on “Tom Turkey” that will be displayed int he cafeteria for the elementary and on “Tina Turkey” that will be displayed in the hallway of the high school building.

Elementary students should bring these items to school and give them to their teachers.  High school students should give the items to their first period teacher.  The grade in the elementary and the grade in the high school that has the most feathers will be rewarded with an ice cream sundae party.

Please encourage your children to participate in this Thanksgiving project.

The food drive will start on November 1 and run through Nov. 17.
